Every couple of months my boyfriend and I go on a little weekend getaway to explore a new city. So when our third anniversary was coming up two weeks ago, we decided to visit Cologne in Germany. I heard of the 25 Hours Hotel Cologne The Circle there, whom I’ve collaborated with in the past. So I decided to partner up with them again to show you this amazing retro-themed hotel.
About the hotel:
What I love about the 25 Hours Hotels is that they’re all themed differently. The 25 hours Cologne The Circle hotel is inspired by mid ‘50s and ‘60s. The hotel, Cologne The Circle, is literally built in a circle. Cologne The Circle is centrally located in the Friesenviertel district, a trendy area with lots of coffee shops and restaurants.
Upon arrival, it felt as if I was entering one of those fancy looking hotels in Monaco. The inside however is super retro and old school with a coffee shop a lounge, a shop and the reception. Once we received the key to our room, it was time to set foot into the famous elevators. I’ve seen a lot of pictures of this elevator on Instagram and it did not disappoint. Now one might think, how can you get so excited over an elevator? See for yourself down below.
The rooms have the same retro vibe as the entrance and ours was in the outer part of the circle. This gave us a perfect view of the ‘Kölner Dohm’ and the blue skies stretching over Cologne. The room itself is very specious and did not look like a typical hotel room. One of my favourite corners is the bathroom located on the other side of the bed. The shower was filled with plants which made your shower experience ten times better.
The bed was as comfortable as I remembered from my last time visiting one of the 25 Hours Hotels. They welcomed us with a bag full of goodies and some extra information about the hotel. The room itself is very light and since it was super sunny while we were out there, it made for a perfect photoshoot location. Naturally we had to take advantage of that.
The hotel has a total of 207 rooms, each varying sizes and themes. We were kindly given the ‘large’ bedroom but they have all kinds of rooms starting at the ‘small’ room up until the ‘gigantic’ room, for if you really want to splurge.
Breakfast and dinner at NENI Cologne
After visiting the 25 Hours Hotel in Paris and experiencing the food from NENI, I have not stopped talking about it since. When I learned that the hotel also had a NENI restaurant , I convinced my boyfriend to go there. The restaurant is on the 8th floor of the hotel which gives you some spectacular views of the city. We arrived at the restaurant around 8 pm and it was totally packed. We didn’t make a reservation so unfortunately they did not have a spot available right away. The waiter told us we could come back in 30 minutes and they will have a table ready. So we made our way back to our room to wait. If you’re not a guest and don’t want to wait in line, you can wait in the Monkey Rooftop Bar which is located right across the restaurant!
So 30 minutes later, we went back to the restaurant and sat down for dinner. I decided to go with the Mezze Trio again because I just loved it so much, my boyfriend went for the Pulled Beef Sandwich which he very much enjoyed too. Knowing the food at NENI was so good, we were both looking forward to our breakfast the next morning and it was equally delicious!
They serve all kind of foods from croissants to different types of bread, salads, spreads, yogurts, fruits and veggies, grains, drinks and so on. It’s a true breakfast buffet heaven and we both went all out. It’s not often I go for seconds at a breakfast buffet, but at the 25 Hours hotels I just can’t resist.
All in all we had an amazing stay at the hotel and loved exploring Cologne. It’s the perfect city to wander around, stop for some coffee and do some shopping. Especially now that they have opened a Sephora two weeks ago, which made my heart skip a beat. So if you are considering staying in Cologne for the night, be sure to check out the 25 Hours Hotel Cologne The Circle!
